Windows empowered new features that has released the ability to automatically deleted temporary and junk files. But, this is not a built-in features or default. To use this new features, user may go to the Settings – System – Storage and have to turn on the toggle under the “Storage Sense” option. By turning it on, this features enable to delete automatically the junk and unnecessary file or those files located at the trash bin that is deleted already but still remains on our computers. This means your computer windows releases extra storage and enable to occupy and free up new spaces or storage for the new valuable data you have to keep permanently. This feature is a big advantage especially to those people who are using computers that always running low on disk space.

How does it really work?

The main goal of storage sense is to reserve space and help optimize our computer. Most basically, when some of our running applications and systems processes creates temporary files that usually not useful but automatically placed into reserved storage and consumed disk spaces or local spaces. The main functions of storage sense were to automatically removed the unnecessary files caused by those open running applications that commonly results to un-optimized PC and affects to the responsiveness of our desktop. With the use of Storage Sense, updates on our PC may also manageable, running applications are being monitored, temporary files and caches are more likely to take away from valuable free up spaces. And if enabled to the devices, user may don’t need to set anything up due to this process will be automatically run in the system as its main goal was to improve the day-to-day functions of the device.

Action Guide:

Since this features automatically deleted files from the junk files, we may accidentally have deleted some files that we may need in the future.

Easy way to recover or restore some deleted files from:

  • Open the ‘Control Panel’
  • Go to ‘System and Maintenance>Backup and Restore (Windows 7)
  • Click ‘Restore my files’ and follow the wizard to restore lost files.

Storage clean-up is an advantage in releasing up more store locations in our computer. But also may results to permanent loses of data. To prevent such cases, always make sure that you have kept an updated backup for valuable and critical files, you may accidentally have deleted. The use of cloud storage or local drive may give you a big help to set up backups.  Or you may enable File History which is also a backup tool available in windows. A File History automatically create and store a shadow or a copy of every files and folders to an external USB or a Network drive. There’s also other supports that can help you protect your files but some of it may also needs for installation and run. The File History software is a highly recommended for those using Windows Desktop.
